The final part of the Lantau Links which first opened two months before Hong Kong was due to be handed back to Chinese rule. Margaret Thatcher inaugurated the opening ceremony on the 27th of April 1997. It connects Hong Kong to Lantua Island, primarily the new Hong Kong International Airport. Tai Ching and Yip Hang emigrated to England on the 28th of June 1997 and one of the last things they did, was to go for a drive on the Bridge. Part of them feared they might never return to Hong Kong after the handover. They moved back in Feb 1998.
